Characteristics of Tibet Import Tibetan Bowls
-
There are different grades of bowls; the “7 Metals” denomination represents the highest quality.
Each artisan has their own unique alloy composition to achieve the best sound. -
Our 7-metal Tibetan Bowls are handmade, hammered, and rounded by hand.
Small surface imperfections and visible hammer marks are signs of authentic craftsmanship and soft, malleable metal, which allow for long, deep, and resonant vibrations. -
Copper is the main element, responsible for vibration, giving the sound intensity, duration, and depth.
-
Our bowls are made with a notably thick wall, which is intentional, as thickness directly affects the sustain and intensity of the sound.
Thank you for your trust.

Handcrafted – 7 Metals
Characteristics of TibetImport.com Tibetan Bowls
Our 7-metal Tibetan bowls are entirely handmade, hammered, and shaped by hand.
You can tell by the uneven texture and small surface imperfections, where the hammer marks are visible — this is important, as it shows that the metal is soft and malleable, allowing for a long, deep, and resonant vibration.
The 7-metal Tibetan bowls are considered the finest quality. Each artisan uses their own unique metal composition to achieve the best possible sound.
Copper is the main element, responsible for vibration, giving the sound intensity, duration, and depth.
Our bowls are made with a notably thick wall, which is intentional, since thickness directly influences both the duration and the power of the sound.
Traditional Playing Techniques
There are two traditional ways to play a Tibetan bowl:
-
Striking it with a firm, single tap.
-
Rubbing (or “singing”) it around the rim using a mallet.
When using the leather mallet, strike the bowl with the leather-covered side, and for smoother circular playing, use the wooden side.
