Mini Lokta Tibetan Prayer Flags
Tradition and Meaning in Sacred Colors
Few things represent Tibet or Nepal as vividly as their colorful prayer flags. These bright banners are seen everywhere — hanging across streets, parks, temples, homes, and even mountain peaks.
Traditionally, the flags are arranged in groups of five, each color symbolizing one of the five elements in Tibetan cosmology, always displayed in a specific order:
-
Blue – symbolizes the sky or space
-
White – symbolizes air and wind
-
Red – symbolizes fire
-
Green – symbolizes water
-
Yellow – symbolizes earth
According to Buddhist tradition, Tibetan prayer flags promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. Each color bears sacred prayers and mantras that, when carried by the wind, spread blessings and positive energy throughout the environment.
